MIDI Memos does not collect, transmit, share, or sell any data about
you. Everything stays on your device.
What MIDI Memos stores on your device
The MIDI recordings (.mid files) you create, in the app's sandboxed Application Support directory.
Metadata about each recording (name, tempo, duration, favorite flag, timestamps), stored in SwiftData locally.
Your preferences (default tempo, click on/off, background-recording toggle, dismissed nudges), stored in UserDefaults locally.
None of this is sent off the device. There is no MIDI Memos backend,
no account system, and no analytics or telemetry.
What MIDI Memos does not do
No data collection of any kind.
No third-party SDKs, analytics, or trackers.
No advertising or ad networks.
No in-app purchases or subscriptions.
No user accounts, no sign-in.
No network requests initiated by the app.
System integrations
MIDI Memos uses standard iOS frameworks for its features:
CoreMIDI to receive MIDI events from connected hardware.
AVFoundation for audio playback of recorded MIDI through a built-in piano sound.
Bluetooth only as needed for the system's MIDI device pairing (the permission prompt appears only when you initiate Bluetooth-MIDI pairing in iOS Settings).
Share sheet when you choose to export a recording — at that point the file is handed to whichever app you select (Files, Mail, AirDrop, GarageBand, etc.). What that app does with it is governed by its own privacy policy.
Permissions
MIDI Memos declares a Bluetooth usage description so iOS can present a
permission prompt when you first try to connect a Bluetooth MIDI
device. This permission is for hardware connectivity only — no
Bluetooth data is collected, logged, or transmitted.
Children's privacy
MIDI Memos does not knowingly collect data from anyone, including
children under 13. The app is suitable for all ages and rated 4+.
